Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Today we celebrate a great man of faith! Despite great personal danger, St. Patrick preached the Gospel to the people of Ireland and eradicated slavery from the entire island. This day isn’t about leprechauns and green colored drinks, it’s about the message of Jesus Christ bringing light into darkness. John 1:5 proclaims, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”
The heart and vision of Imago Dei Church is to bring the light of Jesus to our church, community and city. Oftentimes, we look around at all of the darkness, the negativity, the suffering and the evil and we feel defeated before we take a single step into the day. These are the times it is important to remember the truth of 2 Corinthians 10:3-4, “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”
As we look forward to our launch service on April 2, 2017, there is great significance that the body of Christ stands together in prayer and purpose. My suggestion this week is that we concentrate on the many good things God has provided, and the wonderful things He has in store. The darkness cannot overcome the people of God standing together in unity of faith and purpose. Let’s stand united in prayer this week, seeking God’s strength, will and most importantly, His love. Praise be to God who has brought us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Amen!
